There is something absolutely exhilarating about letting go and just dancing. When no one is watching and the happy music is on the radio. You step over and crank up the volume and just let loose and dance. If you have never tried this across the kitchen floor, you really need to.
The Psalmist declares in Psalm 30, "You have turned my mourning into dancing." God desires our feet always be set to dancing and that our hearts rejoice in the blessings and favor presented to us each day. When we celebrate life, we become an example of the love Christ has placed within us. Our testimony reigns and is lifted high when our attitude soars with altitude.
Look to the birds of the air. They have no fear of flight, wind, or storm. They soar and swoop and tirelessly fly with grace in the midst of adverse circumstances.
Dance has always been a sign of celebration. In 1 Samuel 18:6, "It happened as they were coming, when David returned from killing the Philistine, that the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with joy and with musical instruments."
When my kids were small, they loved dancing. Every time the music would come on - they would bounce their little bodies automatically as if they knew it was exactly what they should do. No one taught them to dance, but it was instinct. Perhaps as grown ups, we too should dance. Let dancing in heart, body and spirit be the new norm.
