Life's Walk

Over 200 verses of Scripture address the subject of walking. Each verse references our daily behavior and how we should conduct ourselves through the course of everyday life. It is very important how we interact with others. The Bible actually gives us our "walking orders" in precise detail. The Psalmist promised in Psalm 84:11, "No good thing will God withhold from them who walk uprightly". So we are encouraged to walk in a manner of integrity and purity.

We are also taught "not to walk in the path of the wicked, or stand in the way of evil, but we are to keep our foot from the path of the sinful" (Proverbs 1 & 4). When we walk in peer pressure, undermining authority, or walk only with a desire for approval from friends and colleagues, our walk is a dangerous walk. In Philippians 3:18, Paul teaches those who walk this way actually walk as "enemies of the cross of Christ."

However, there is a right way to "walk." This walk is one that is honorable in the sight of God and brings blessing and favor. Genesis 5:22 states, "Enoch walked with God". His daily conduct reflected God's principles and he was highly revered in Scripture. We should desire to walk through life honorably.

Let us receive the same instruction that the Lord also gave to Abraham, "walk before Me and be blameless" (Genesis 17:1). This is the walk we should strive to pursue. A walk that honors God, inspires others and challenges those around us to rise to the occasion of a better life.
