There is something that you and I must do. We must daily make a declaration to serve God fully with our whole heart. God asks that we dedicate ourselves to living right and walking daily in His holiness.
Yes, we are carnal and have a sinful nature that tends to want to follow its' own way. But like Paul, we must crucify that old, sinful nature daily and pursue with great diligence a life that pleases God. Over and over again in Scripture, God declares that if we love Him, we will keep His commands and the teachings of God's Word.
Scripture instructs us to make a new consecration to the Lord. Leviticus 20:7-8 declares, "Consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am the LORD your God. Keep my decrees and follow them. I am the LORD, who makes you holy." Scripture teaches about the holiness of God, yet it's instruction here is focused on our initiative, "Consecrate yourselves and be holy!"
Today, let's make a new commitment. I will strive to be holy because God is holy and I walk in a right relationship with Him. I will keep the commandments of God and follow the decrees of Scripture because I follow God, who is able to make and keep me holy. I make a declaration today that I will consecrate myself to the Lord. Will you join me in this commitment? Let us daily dedicate ourselves to Christ - that He might be reflected in our lives.
