Think about it. You drive down the highway and you have faith and total trust that the guy in the car in the lane beside you will stay in his lane. You come to a red light and apply your brakes with total trust that your vehicle will come to a complete stop. Daily, you and I place total trust in many other things except God.
And God gives us instructions in Malachi, "Prove me now herewith." He teaches us that if we would tithe just 10% of what He has blessed us with that He will open the floodgates of heaven and pour out blessings that will be too great for us to receive. This is one of God's Principles. A God who never lies and always keeps His Word. And yet, do we totally trust Him?
And this is God's avenue for blessing the Church also, allowing for ministries to continue and in turn, bless you in abundance for your 'trust' in Him. To the person who will dare to tithe their income, God says, Test me and Prove me and see for yourself, if your finances will not turn around. Put your trust in Me.
