Paul declares that once we commit our lives to God, we have died to sin and presents us with this question. "How can we any longer walk in sin? Our old self was crucified with Christ that we should no longer serve, walk, live, and breathe in the ways of sin."
Our past is that we were once slaves of sin and we were in bondage to its' hold. We walked in unrighteousness. But now that we have been crucified with Christ, we are no longer slaves of sin. We now walk in the freedom of Jesus Christ. He paid the price for us and ransomed us with His own blood, therefore sin should no longer hold us in captivity. We should walk in freedom.
I encourage you to crucify yourself daily with Christ and put to death the carnality within your heart so that your new position in Christ is full of faith and freedom.
