Refreshing

A relationship with Christ is a sweet refreshing and strength that cuts to the depth of the soul.  The Word of God in Isaiah 25:4 reads, "For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall." 

Not too long ago, I visited Florida and continued my daily walk for exercise. The temperatures were quite different from what I was accustomed. It was so hot even in the early morning sometimes I felt I could not breathe.

No matter how early I chose to take my walk, I found myself searching for any portion of shade from the trees along the sidewalk. Even the slightest shadow would bring a coolness in the parched temperatures.  With every pace, I began looking forward to these moments of refreshment and cooler air. 

God has promised that when life gets heated and you become weary from the temperatures that seem to govern your life - you can call out to him for refreshment. He will become your hydration, your cool shade in the midst of devastating heat.  He has promised to be your refuge from the storm and your strength in times of distress.  Take time today to call on God, your Savior.  He is My Shade from the heat and my daily refreshment. Walk with Him and sense the cool breeze of the Spirit.
