Quiet & the Word

Sometimes it is difficult for us to sift through the constant noise in our lives and listen to the voice of God. But we must draw ourselves away in an isolated, quiet place to pray.  Scripture in Psalm 46:10 teaches, "Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

If you will take time to read the first section of Psalm 46, you will find the Psalmist reminding us of the character of God. He is our refuge and strength. He is our help in times of trouble. He never lets us down. Though our world crumbles beneath us, we shall not be destroyed because the Lord Almighty is with us. If we have spent time with our Savior in the quiet, secret place we will look for His goodness in everything.

We desperately need the strength of the Word of God every day. It is a discipline and sometimes other things try to distract us. But the Word of God will undergird you and build faith in you to trust in Almighty God through thick and thin.

There will be times that we face difficult and severe storms. Times when we feel as if the earth is sifting out from under our feet.  It is in those times that we can trust in our Sovereign God that He surely has our best interests in mind. And we can "know" that He has not forgotten us, but has our life mapped out with favor, blessing and opportunity. He is our refuge of safety and a very present help in times of trouble.
