James 1:27 declares, "Religion that God accepts as pure and without fault is this: caring for orphans or widows who need help, and keeping yourself free from the world's evil influence." We know that we should maintain acts of benevolence toward orphans and widows - that is clear. But often, we fail to read the latter part of this scripture. There is a concise instruction from God to keep ourselves free from the world's evil influence.
Face it - you are affected daily by the friends you keep, the places you go, the music you listen to and the conversations you have. You are affected by the books you read, the movies you watch and the media websites you visit. You must daily choose to follow God righteously.
Do not allow the world to influence your views, opinions, language or actions. Choose rather to live according to the Word of God and maintain a heart that is pure and without fault.
