The truth is we always have our own plan. On many occasions, you and I have sat and planned our lives extensively. And on our own, we have selected the course and direction we think is best. We know our goals and ambitions and have already planned how we intend to accomplish those goals. We have set our GPS and we have made up our mind on the route we will take.
And although it is absolutely necessary that we possess vision and goals, we have often failed to involve God in the plan. How often do you seek the direction of the Holy Spirit? How often do you pause to hear His voice and ask, "God what do you want me to do"? Or do you just plan and go with your plan without asking God what you should do?
The Scripture pricks our hearts with this question in James 4:14, "What is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then, vanishes away. For you ought to say, if the Lord will we shall live and do this or that." Perhaps, we should change our mindset, our strategy - and first ask God about our plans. Who knows how wonderfully things may turn out if we first and foremost inquire of the Lord about His Will.
