Today, we live in an anxious world. And Jesus is the only genuine reason we can live in peace. Trouble and chaos can knock us downward, but we must get up. Scripture calls Jesus Christ the Prince of Peace because He transforms our lives and offers the assurance of eternal life by accepting Him as our Redeemer. He is able to provide us a balanced life and restore every broken fragment. He is our Prince of Peace. Jesus said in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you, My Peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
I am grateful I accepted Christ as my Savior at an early age and He continues to sustain me, He is the lifter of my head - my Peace. I grew up in the home of a pioneer pastor who learned to trust God to provide for his family at a young age. My parents believed in the dynamic power of prayer and daily practiced a heart of gratitude, even in difficult times.
Looking back today, I admire them more now than ever before. They sacrificed for the sake of their family and ministry, but because we served a Mighty God we never went without. My parents were not fretful in worry when the cupboards emptied, but fell on their knees before God and waited on answers from their Prince of Peace.
Current events has brought about much unrest in our nation, but Christ calls out to us to place our trust totally in God. “Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving make your requests known unto God, and the Peace of God which passeth all understanding shall guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
We have all been tremendously blessed in America. Just to experience the love and grace of God is beyond compensation. But there are some who are facing challenging circumstances. Perhaps you have lost your employment, are experiencing physical ailments, have suffered a recent divorce, or feel squeezed with academic debt. Whatever has placed your mind and heart in the vice-grip of fear is completely overridden by Jesus Christ who declares, “I am your Prince of Peace.” We live in an anxious world. Yet we find, nothing is too hard for our Sovereign Lord. Nothing baffles Him. Nothing is beyond His control. And He will be your Peace.
