Culture of Christ

The culture of Christ simply means we should individually strive to live and walk like Christ, if we profess to be a Christian.  It is taking on the nature of God.  We should grow in our relationship with Christ to think like Christ, talk like He talks, care like He cares, and respond to others as He did.

A number of years ago, a familiar theme arose among young people concerning choices to be made in the Christian life.  It was WWJD (What would Jesus do?).  The theme was genuinely full of wisdom and maturity.  If we carry ourselves through life guided by this preceding question, we would certainly make better decisions.

God’s vision for the Church is to become a warm and caring community that displays one culture.  Just as a new bride and groom become one in unity of heart, so should a body of believers.  Driving through Charlottesville recently, I noticed a bumper sticker on the car in front of me that read, “His Love Motivates Us.”

Our mission in aligning with the culture of Christ should be to show the love of God and lead others to Christ.  Luke 10:27 teaches, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”
