One man said, "the problem with the virtue of humility is that as soon as we think we have attained it, we have lost it." Jesus certainly set the perfect example of humility for us. He was a King and He left His throne in Glory and humbled himself becoming our sacrifice for sin. If we could seek to pattern our life after Christ and display His sincere humility, others would desire to seek after Christ. Because humility and sincerity of heart draws others to God by the work of the Holy Spirit.
1 Peter 5:5-6, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty power of God, that He may lift you up in due time." As believers, the best way we can harness humility is to keep our hearts in the Word and our knees bowed before the Lord of Glory. It is only by His Spirit and His Power that you and I are able to break away from the pride of life that seeks to exalt itself and be acknowledged.
We love hearing our name called, receiving an award or someone bragging on us for our excellent qualities, work ethic, or compassion. But we should more so desire that God is pleased with our conduct and humility. A daily relation with God changes our heart.
If we will daily seek God's face, God's will, God's plan, and God's ultimate desire for us - we will find our hearts have been transformed with a covering of pure humility. But if we continue in our own selfish ways apart from Christ unfortunately, we will display arrogant and proud hearts that turn away the lost from seeking our Savior.
