Big and Bad

Sometimes it is a fact that we are weak, but cannot admit it. We think we are big and bad. We are feeble at times, but even society expects us to remain strong. Is mediocre okay? What does God expect of us?

Ephesians 6:10-11 shouts, "Finally, my brethren, Be strong in the Lord and in power of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can fight against the devil's schemes." We are encouraged to walk strong and tall in God and in His power, not our own. We do this by placing on ourselves the full armor of God. The breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, the sword of the Spirt, our loins girt with Truth, so we can successfully stand in the power of the Spirit's strength and choose wise and valiantly.

Often, we think we are big and bad. We have the misconception that we can fight and stand tall on our own. We often think more highly of ourselves than we should. But the truth is: we are nothing apart from God. The enemy desires to sift us like wheat and will lay a trap for our feet. He will cunningly strive to defeat us in the most uncommon and unsuspecting way.

We must be careful not to walk arrogantly in our own strength. We need the empowerment of the Holy Spirit of God. Through prayer and our daily commitment to Christ, we are enabled to defeat the enemy and successfully stand victorious - like a warrior. Equip yourselves with the Word of God that you may hold in confidence the weapons of war.
