Do you realize that by serving and volunteering your time at the Church and in the community, you are packing up a bag of blessing for yourself?
The Bible teaches that the poor we will always have with us, and that whatever we do to be a blessing to the less fortunate - God will preserve us and deliver us in our time of trouble. According to Psalm 41:1-2, every believer should be excited about serving the underprivileged. Reaching out with a heart of giving is in biblical character.
Scripture resounds, "Blessed is he that considers the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and will not deliver him unto the will of his enemies."
Now, we should have compassion on the lost, the poor and the hurting. So should not simply serve others for the sake of being blessed in return. We also must learn to forgive those who have wronged us and offer them blessing. But I wanted to point out to you that the return blessings are immense to those who give freely of their time and resources to others in need.
