Golgotha

Pilate had Jesus beaten and flogged with a lead-tipped whip and the soldiers made a crown of sharp thorns and put it on his head, along with a royal purple robe in mockery.  They made Jesus drag a heavy cross to the place called Skull Hill - which in Hebrew means Golgotha and there they tortured and crucified him.

Afterward Joseph of Arimathea, came and took the body of Jesus down from the cross and Nicodemus brought about seventy-five pounds of embalming ointment made from myrrh and aloes and together they wrapped Jesus' body in a long linen cloth with the spices, as customary for a Jewish funeral. His body was placed in a tomb and a stone was rolled to seal it and it was guarded day and night for fear someone would steal the body.

Mary Magdalene came to the tomb before daylight on Sunday morning and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance, and the tomb was empty.  In Matthew 28 an angel appeared to them and said, "He is not here for He is risen, just as He said". They ran and found Simon Peter and others to come to the tomb to see.  They looked in and saw the linen cloth lying there and Jesus was not there.

He became our sacrifice for sin and gives us the opportunity to walk in freedom with repentant prayer today. Make a decision now to follow Him. I encourage you to pray and invite Him to change your life.
